What Have I Done.

I must have asked myself that question at least a million times since I signed the lease for Kip & Idle Home. Life quickly changed overnight. Gone were the easy days filled with taking care of dogs and a kid, going to the gym and doing some work for my other job. In its place was a life I had simultaneously never thought possible and was terrified of (as well as exhausted from!) It’s so easy to get lost in the fear of failure and want to give up. Tell myself over and over that I can’t do this, no one wants what we offer, and overall that I really just stink at this! Then I open for the day and begin to meet people or see those I know, and all the negative thoughts fade away. I am in awe of the love and support that I have received not only from those close to me but from a community I never knew existed until now. I have had an incredible time meeting everyone and making friends with people like Ted, Martha, Susie, Glen, Carolyn & Barbara and many others. You all have no idea what your presence means, and I am grateful.

So, what have I done? Well, we are continuing to move forward and bring to Gettysburg something special. I have many new furniture pieces coming out soon and have been busy with a few custom pieces. Have a piece of furniture you love but feel like it’s dated? I can help. I will work with you to create a look that you will love for years to come.

I am also opening up my Interior Design services. This is a very personalized experience where I will work hand in hand with a client to create a space or spaces that are a reflection of them. While doing so, teaching how to make design user & budget friendly.

We are also excited to announce a budding new partnership with a local wax melt company called Homebody Hub. Homebody Hub is headed by the ever talented Megan. She is currently working on four distinct scents that will only be available at Kip & Idle Home. However, she currently offers a host of wax melt scents on her website: http://www.homebodyhb.com. Look for a specific page on our website just for Homebody Hub in the near future! Megan is an Adams County local and is just the start of local and statewide artists that we are looking to feature. There is so much talent in the area and we want to share it with all of you!

Finally, coming this fall: Classes! I have had many requests for classes and workshops. I will be putting together a furniture refinishing workshop that goes through the process from start to finish and will allow you to learn about the different tools and methods. There will also be classes for DIY quickies. I am working on several ideas for these and would love any suggestions that you may want to learn how to do! This is going to be a fun time for all of us to get together and create!

Thank you to all of you who have come into the shop in the last couple months. I appreciate each and every one of you and your kind words of encouragement. Daisy and Henry appreciate the pets and love! To those of you who haven’t visited yet… I look forward to meeting you in the future!

Thank you all!
